A Mesage From Lady Captain
Sue Smallburn
As a person relatively new to golf I am astounded to find myself Lady Captain of Halifax Bradley Hall this year – and it says a lot about the Ladies Section and this Club that I have been welcomed so positively and thoroughly into the fold.
In 2020, despite the difficulties we have faced, we are keen to maintain our friendly reputation and to continue to build on progress we have made whilst maintaining important traditions. Our section is valued within the Club and we play a key part in developing and moving the organisation forward. There are around 30 active lady golfers – with a range of golfing experience and abilities. Our regular competitions reflect this –
• Saturday – medals, stablefords, betterballs and majors – play alongside the men or with other ladies;
• Thursday – the same but specifically playing with other ladies. Also we offer 9 hole stablefords for those who would prefer not to do the full 18 holes;
• Wednesday – an individual midweek medal or stableford with ladies off the yellow tees for a change – a mixed competition with gents off the white tees.
There is something for everybody – we also have occasional Sunday comps, roll ups throughout the year (including the winter), fun comps, knockouts and social golf – as well as mixed competitions.
Usually, we have team matches too – so roll on 2021 when our B, White Rose and Evening League teams can get going again.
We are always happy to welcome a new face so if you fancy being part of a forward-thinking, sociable and active golf Club then please consider Halifax Bradley Hall. You can give me a call anytime to arrange to ‘give it a go’. I look forward to seeing everyone on and (eventually) off the course.
