Apart from the regular weekly roll-ups there are other golfing opportunities for the Over 55. You are all welcome to join us.
All you have to do is keep an eye on the notice boards along the top corridor and put your name down. Here is an update of what is to come -
LAWRENCE BATLEY LEAGUE
If you wish to take part in competitive golf then this is for you. The league has been running for many years and is divided into four sections of 8 clubs.
Matches take place on a Friday with a team of 8 playing in pairs on a matchplay basis. We meet prior to the match for coffee and bacon butties. After the golf we return to the bar to socialise with our opponents and reflect on the result!
Also run by the Lawrence Batley League is an individual knockout tournament and an end of season Open Day for all the players that have represented their club during the season.
The start of the season is heralded with a 3 man team competition. If you wish to be part of our squad simply put your name, and contact details, on the sheet on the notice board. It is pleasing to see that the interest is building nicely but more names are still needed.
FRIENDLY FIXTURES
For those who don’t want the cut and thrust of competitive golf then we have friendly fixtures with five other clubs during the season. Most of these start with coffee and bacon butties but some end with a 2 course meal.
These fixtures have been enjoyed for many years. If you wish to join in with these fixtures then please add your name to the list.
HALIFAX HUDDERSFIELD UNION – SENIORS’ CHAMPIONSHIP
Our local Golf Union hold an abundance of fixtures during the year for various age groups and categories. One of these is the Annual Seniors’ Championship. As well as an overall winner there are also several age categories. Watch the notice board for entry details.
SENIORS’ KNOCKOUT TROPHY
Open to all Bradley Hall members of age 55 and above this trophy is played for on an individual matchplay basis. The notice goes up in the club at the start of the year and entries can be placed through our Professional.
HAINSWORTH PARK GOLF CLUB – EXCHANGE
Roger Ward, our Past Rabbit Captain of 1999, is now a member of Hainsworth Park Golf Club, near Hull. Roger has arranged a fixture between our two clubs.
We play Hainsworth Park each year either as a home or away match. Each fixture will comprise a squad of 16 players arriving for coffee and bacon butties before teeing off in groups of 4.
After the golf will be a one course meal. Please watch the notice board for details of these events.
ELLAND CHALLENGE
This annual challenge takes place in September, following the completion of the league and friendly fixtures. The squad is generally made up from members that have represented our club in both the league and friendly fixtures.
END OF SEASON THRASH
To celebrate our achievements over the year we get together on a Friday in late September or early October for a friendly game of golf followed by a meal. The Knockout Trophy is presented at this event as well as prizes for the day.
Any surplus funds from the league and friendly fixtures go towards the financing of this event. To take part in any of these activities just keep an eye on the notice board and put your name down.
It is a great way to make new friends and enjoy some good golf both at Bradley Hall and other courses in the area.Since the recent changes in data protection law very few members have updated their information on Club V1 Members Area.
It is very helpful to all event organisers if they can at least get your telephone number which is often needed at short notice in the event of late cancellations, etc.
